Angelo's story and the Bidibidi refugee settlement

To avoid conflict and possible death, Angelo escaped from South Sudan to Uganda for a more secure life. Years after he was given a plot of land to build a new life from, Angelo became a leader in the community known as Bidibidi and helps provide food and shelter to children and families there with the aid of World Vision.

Florence

A refugee of South Sudan, Florence Awate and her son Peter were able to receive help from Actions Against Hunger so they can build new lives away from danger. She dreams of becoming a nurse, and with her love of singing, she wants to provide comfort for other children in her settlement. Along with other mothers and small children, she has access to healthcare and services for mothers and their young ones and also gets to work with the nutrition officers.

Melting glacier community on the Rwenzori mountains
Over on the snowy Rwenzori mountains on the border between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, climate change is affecting the communities living in the sacred territory. From the rapid loss of the ice field to the forest fires of 2012 and destructive floods, these environmental challenges make it difficult for them to sustain themselves with the plants they grow. The vegetation gets destroyed really fast.
